Data Analyst (f/m) 80-100%

Are you passionate about analyzing, understanding, and optimizing digital products – both from a quantitative and qualitative perspective?

We are looking for a talented data analyst to join our Analytics team within the Digital Paid Media Technology department at Tamedia. The position will be based in Lausanne and fully integrated with the rest of the team, based in Zurich. Working with a team of data engineers and data analysts as well as with journalists in our newsroom, you will shape the usage of data and support data-driven decision making across Tamedia's core business (e.g. 24 heures, Tribune de Genève, Berner Zeitung or Tages-Anzeiger). This includes understanding the needs of our users, the perspective of our journalists as well as optimizing and improving our data infrastructure.
Your Mission & Responsibilities
  • Analyze large datasets using data science techniques leveraging our data lake and analytics tools
  • Build statistical models to optimize customer experience, marketing activities and editorial processes
  • Understand the business objectives and make sure that our data infrastructure can support the current business challenges
  • Leverage Big Data platform capabilities to enable analytics/ML model delivery
  • Work in close collaboration with our editorial, product, marketing, and IT departments to share data insights and produce dashboards and reporting
Must-have / Minimum Qualifications
  • Higher education degree in an industry-relevant field such as technology, economics, statistics, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years experience as data analyst in a cloud based environment (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud/Big Query)
  • Significant experience working with large volumes of data and/or complex data models and capable of investigating, familiarizing and mastering new data sets quickly
  • Strong statistical programming (e.g. R, Python) and querying databases (e.g. SQL) skills
  • Experience working with BI and reporting tools (e.g. Power BI, DataStudio, Tableau)
  • Ability to translate unstructured questions into structured hypotheses and to communicate complex findings to an internal audience
  • Strong teamwork skills, attention to detail and comfortable in working with fluid and complex organizational structures across an array of brands, departments, and teams in multiple locations, as you will need to build and maintain cross-functional relationships
  • Fluency in English and French

Nice-to-have / Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced knowledge of digital analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics 360, Adobe Analytics, or Firebase)
  • Work experience with tag management tools (e.g. Google Tag Manager, Launch, or Tealium)
  • Experience working with web and app technologies (JavaScript, HTML5, APIs,...)
  • Working knowledge of Kanban, Agile, Scrum, Continuous Delivery and Deployment
  • Good language skills in German
